A great way to enhance your smile

Dental veneers are thin covers, similar to finger nails, that are custom-created to fit perfectly over the fronts of natural teeth. They are a great way to dramatically transform the appearance of your smile and can quickly improve the colour, size and shape of your teeth.

At Cavendish House, we are pleased to offer both porcelain and composite veneers. Porcelain is premium option, with superior durability and aesthetics. Composite veneers can also achieve great results though and provide a more cost-effective, alternative option.

Your dentist will be able to advise on the best option for you.

Frequently asked questions about dental veneers

Will my veneers need to be replaced?

Advances in technology mean that modern veneers can remain in good condition for years, though certain circumstances may require them to be replaced. For example, they can become worn at the edges or discolour over time.

Composite veneers are more susceptible to discolouration and may need replacing sooner, whereas porcelain veneers are more resistant to colour changes.

It is important to look after your veneers as carefully as possible to extend their life span.

How long does the treatment take?
Following your initial evaluation and x-ray, it will normally require two additional visits to the practice to have your veneers fitted in place. The whole process typically takes around six weeks.
What dental issues are veneers good at improving?

At the first treatment appointment, the dentist will get your teeth ready before taking an impression to enable a precise fit. Temporary veneers may then be fitted at this stage to protect your teeth while your final veneers are being created.

When your new bespoke veneers are ready, you can return to the practice for them to be securely fitted into place.

Will I be able to eat normally after my veneers are fitted?

You can consume food and beverages as usual while you have veneers. However, being mindful of them will help extend their life and maintain their appearance.

Drinks like coffee, tea and red wine can stain veneers as well as natural teeth. In order to protect them, we encourage you to steer clear of biting crunchy food such as raw carrots with your front teeth.
